RedBoard Biz celebrates one-year anniversary

RedBoard Biz celebrates 1 year anniversaryOne year ago today, we officially launched RedBoard Biz.

In our first post, we told you our vision for RedBoard Biz was to be a forum for discussions with small and medium businesses. We wanted this blog to be a place for us to share topics of interest and the latest news about Rogers products and services and how your business can use them.

We’re thrilled we’ve attracted a community of like-minded business professionals. From apps and interviews, to the latest product and network launches, we’ve covered a broad range of topics on this blog in the past year. We also launched a business focused Twitter account, @RogersBiz, which is growing steadily day by day.

We know you’re reading but now we want to hear from you. To celebrate our one-year anniversary and ensure that we continue to provide you with a broad range of content that’s of interest to your business, we’re having a contest.

Just tell us in the comments section of this post, in 100 words or less, what topics you’d like to see covered on our blog in the next year and you could win a new BlackBerry Curve 9360. How about game-changing technology trends? Q&As with business thought leaders? Tips to make you a smartphone power user? We’re open to your ideas.

We’ll be announcing the winner of the contest on this post and on Twitter next week. Good luck!

UPDATE (October 5, 2011, 12:14 pm): The RedBoard Biz Anniversary Contest is now closed. Thanks to everyone for your great suggestions and feedback. 1. In the coming year, I’d like to see more on unified communications. Especially how to integrate with Rogers service.

    Thanks!
    Congrats on 1 year, RedBoard!

  2. I would like to read more about Rogers role in incubating innovative tech startups. Rogers can set an example for other Canadian venture capitalists in terms of risk management and active capital allocation. Rogers has the resources and smart people to help turn Canada into a startup nation.

  3. Happy Birthday Rogers Redboard Biz!

The topics I would like to see covered on this blog are:

    1) The positive impact of Rogers technology on the environment.
    2) Promotions on Rogers products/services specifically for Redboard Biz members only.
    3) I would like to be able to purchase products/services via the Rogers Redboard/ Twitter Biz Team
    4) Rogers International Business ventures
    5) Out of left field…interviews with celebrities using Rogers products and services!

Once again congrats for your first birthday!

  4. I encourage Redboard, in the year ahead, to keep publishing educational tips, involving readers with contests, offering access for guest blogging by Rogers users about real experiences specific to Rogers devices, offering discounts for loyal fans and integrating information from other Rogers sites and services. Redboard should look back to acknowledge not everyone buys the latest gadget, but also look ahead to profile new products for those early adopters among us. Continued success, and happy birthday to Redboard!

  5. I don’t often swing by this blog, so some of these might have already been covered, but here are a few suggestions…

-How to use location-based services to promote your business
-How NFC fits into corporate security
-Highlighting independent research on how smartphones increase workforce productivity
-A run-down of mobile collaboration tools
    -A run-down video conferencing solutions
-Interviews with people working in rugged environments with tough phones
-An explanation of cloud computing and its pros and cons for business use
-Suggestions on how a business can engage new customers through online social networks

    • Hey Simon! Nice to see you swing by RedBoard Biz! Cloud computing is definitely a topic we’re considering for a future post. We know it’s a hot topic. Thanks for your other suggestions too. Good stuff. Come by more often ;)

  6. Terrific! Thanks for the well-wishes everyone and thank you for all the suggestions. They’re fantastic. We’ll absolutely be looking at all your suggestions for topics for future posts.

  7. Congrats on the birthday!

I think it would be neat to see an in-depth “Ask Rogers” type of column, where you solicit questions via email and twitter, and then have that question answered by a relevant expert at Rogers. It would make for a good way to cover topics like NFC, billing tips, and to also give a neat “behind-the-scenes” snapshot of what’s up at Rogers.

  8. Rogers has made many advances in making communities more involved with their corporate strategy. I love the fact that they are first to market with their marketing in terms of getting customers involved. I think RedBoard needs more publicity in other Rogers owned media such as magazines directing it towards the website. This is a way that you will be able to take your print media customers and make them print and online media, allowing for not only additional revenue, but better engaged consumers.

    Cheers,
    Harjas

  9. One thing that I would really love to see in the coming year would be detailed descriptions and training on new products. Some times these blackberry products can give you a huge headache!

  10. Geraldine Durant says:

In the coming year, I’d like to see more on new products and the future of technology. Also discounts for Redboard members.

Congrats on the one year anniversary!

  11. I’d like to see new technology described. Sometimes you hear about something new in the technology world but you don’t know what it actually is.

  12. When I was in high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do in the future. I had to decide between sciences or commerce. My school invited three experienced people who graduated from my high school 25 years ago. They let us ask as many questions as we wanted. That’s how I decided I was going to get into commerce.
I believe this idea can easily be applied on RedBoard Biz. If you guys can bring experienced business-men and women who can answer all our questions, it will be very helpful. We aren’t high school students, but we can always learn more than we already know.

Thanks, and congratulations on the first birthday!
    Aviv

  13. Happy Birthday. I enjoy keeping up with new technology, but I don’t always understand the terms that the experts casually use in their discussion of new gadgets. I would like clear simple language used so all consumers understand new products they wish to purchase.

  14. I’d like to see more on the shift from conventional media (newspapers, radio) to new media (social networking) and how that is affecting small businesses in positive and negative ways

  15. Congrats on the anniversary!

I would like to see going forward, more topics and discussion on how Rogers will continue to leverage their internal services (such as MyRogers) to bring even more capabilities to mobile users. More articles on what Rogers plans to do with the next generation mobile networks and how they plan to compete with global competitors as the workforce moves from working at their desk to working on their public transit commute.

Long story short, a focus on the future of mobile and what Rogers is doing to innovate in such a future!

    - Andrew

  16. Patricia Boyle says:

I would like to see Rogers service the rural area where I live. They provide service to the town which is 6.6 miles from my house but bother with us.

  17. First off, congrats on your one year anniversary.

As a small business owner with an online presence, I would like to see more topics on how to maintain a competitive edge with the latest in technologies.

  18. I’d love to see tips and tricks for optimizing the use of a smart phone! Thanks RedBoard! Congrats

  19. Good luck on your first anniversary. I would like to see more info and conversation on new apps that I can use in my business.

  20. Love tips on how to use functions, features effectively, efficiently and up to the date info. Great job, congrats on your 1st year

  21. I would love to see an integration of corporate social responsibility and how Rogers can impact social issues,
    happy birthday

  22. Happy 1st Birthday! I would lik eto see a questions & answer section

  23. I am interested in start up tips for running your own business. All the best for the future.

  24. How to use Rogers and phone functions and features.

  25. Happy Birthday to everyone who has worked so hard over the past year. I would like to see Rogers work on developing interview techniques in businesses.

  26. From an average user prospective, Topics on – Cell phone tips, Data usage info, Upgrades in internet technology, Latest in rogers media, latest in Rogers network expansion, tips on business, tips for navigating the internet. Congrats on 1 year!

  27. Congrats on the anniversary

I would like to see more tips on how to become a power user and lesser known functionality (loved the article on keyboard shortcuts)

    Much Appreciated!

  28. Great job so far on RedBoard Biz. I think highlighting success stories about local businesses making use of Social Media network marketing and online tools partnered with Rogers hardware or systems solutions would be a valuable insight to share for both the customers, and Rogers as a service provider.

  29. I would love to read more stories on real world users and how they have integrated, used Rogers services. Especially in regards to using account services to save money, integrate data, build client base, use of unified communications etc. Thanks!

    Congrats on the Anniversary!!

  30. would like to see a Q&A section…….thanks

  31. Jackie Sampson says:

I would love to see a “how-to” section followed by a video maybe…sometimes I need help with something and can be staring me right in the face…and then once I get a “visual” teaching…its so much better. Happy Birthday btw!

  32. I would really like to see changes with Rogers Cable. I think the cost of getting a movie on demand is awfully expensive-lower the price and more people will order them more. More contests would be great too : )

  33. If you can straddle the line between informing Rogers customers of new products and providing a vital link for them to address their concerns in a timely fashion, you’d be more than ahead of the curve!

  34. I would love to see more tech help, my son has a Blackberry and there are still a couple things to figure out.

  35. How-tos and tips would be welcome.

  36. More basic info for first time users and what you are doing to better train customer service !!

  37. What I’d like to see is more of a showcase and comparison of Rogers current and upcoming devices on which products would be beneficial to small business. With businesses transitioning to tablets to replace their mobile solutions, it is really difficult to choose which tablet would be appropriate for each industry. Rogers has tablets from Blackberry, Android, and Apple, it’s difficult to choose since they are often marketed for consumers rather than businesses. For instance why would a business choose LTE network and capable devices over the standard HSPA/+ data devices. Hope this really does get covered in the future.

  38. sharonne katz says:

I would like to hear discussions on industry speculations, new technologies expected, ideas on where technology is going and more importantly where it should be going.

  39. mark villanueva says:

more info on current technologies, eg. cloud computing, and LTE etc.

  40. We would love to see a variety of app reviews. Perhaps have to apps of the month, and also upcoming technology to look out for.

Also, as others have suggested a FAQ section would be useful. Great job overall and thank you!

  41. I would like a q&a section where we can get answers to questions on phone models.
Also different stories on how smartphones have helped people in a variety of ways.
    Thanks!

  42. I would love app reviews Highlight top apps of the month.
Also, some new technologies being worked on taht we might see in the future, like recently heard about a battery that will charge in 10 minutes.

    Thanks…keep it up !

  43. I’d like to see more tips on how technology can help the small business.

  44. I’d love to see you cover how to use technology to make my business more efficient and productive. I’d also like more video so I can see and hear from experts to help me grow my business.
